1. the Topping Out at the stadium
2. Had lunch with the work people
3. Got a tour of the stadium site (and had to wear funny helmets)
4. Got back to the hotel late and all the iron workers, construction guys & gals, and company execs shut down the bar at the hotel...
5. So, Dan and I cruised San Jose and ended up at IHOP for dinner
Then Friday, we woke up bright and early, went to the San Jose airport, switched rental cars from an Escalade, to a Camry and left for San Francisco.
Dan had been to San Francisco several years ago, but we made our list of the top things we wanted to do before we flew home that night. Top of my list, and on my personal bucket list, see the Golden Gate Bridge! So, Dan suggested we do that first, then spend the rest of the afternoon and early evening down at the Pier. So, we tried to do that...except we got lost in the financial district and funny thing in San Francisco there's not really anywhere you can pull over and look more closely at the map. You just have to keep driving...and the map wasn't so hot with marking which streets were one way, or streets that you can't turn left on etc. So, finally I spotted this (the above pic) from the window and was so excited! We got to the bridge, took pics and wandered around enjoying the sunshine and beautiful weather. There is a small museum there and a souvenir shop, as well as a snack bar place, which was good because we were starving--it was 12:30 and we hadn't eaten since the night before. I love San Francisco because of the rich history there, and such amazing sights. We ended up not having time to do Al Catraz, but that's OK--we'll be back someday. After the bridge, we spent the rest of the day at Pier 39 having yummy food, fun shopping and enjoying the sea lions.
